Well, one needs to consider that when women talk about their life choices around one, they are responding to more than just one's specific opinions on these issues; they are, like all of us, products of ther society, environment, upbringing, what they read in the papers etc. And sometimes a combination of all these things makes us say - or even believe - that we desire things that are not really good for us, or that are not really what we want. Or they make us speak out of one side of our mouths in public and feel quite differently inside, trying to keep up the appearances we think the world (where the world != specific interlocutor) expects of us. It's natural, it's normal, it's a heavy burden, and I think it's a little unfair to want to slap people for it.
