I'm still trying to categorise books in Calibre. We are not helped here by publishers tagging for SEO and everything having ALL the tags. But also because of things like, "What does Literary" mean? Does it mean "prose that might be poetry" or "stuff that's too turgid to read" or "ignores conventions of punctuation or grammar" or what? Is it even a useful category? Should we use it to mean "does interesting things with the language and the form"?

I haven't tried to track this much in the past but in October I mainly listened to audiobooks, especially while someone was in hospital. And a lot is re-listening to things I've been rereading for over 20 years. But some are new to me. And they're mostly serieses because then I have to change gear less often between universes. The list )

Today brought the supermarket delivery which included three pumpkins and the last of the Trick or Treat sweets. So Youngest, Middlest and I made up bundles of treats to give away. We have about 80, all vegan/halal/gluten free. Each contains milk chocolate, white chocolate, something chewy, something chalky (like Love Hearts or Parma Violets), and something sucky like a boiled sweet or lollipop. We also have a few backup sacks of skittles bags, for when they run out, though only the red bags are vegan - the special dark ones for Halloween aren't.

Tomorrow the kids will carve the pumpkins and then on Thursday we're ready for the ritual. I really look forward to it. Hugely.

Ooh I'm doing my second listen to these audiobooks (I never catch everything on the first listen, and I can't really read full length things any more) and I missed System Collapse entirely last time. I should have a go at finding the short stories and things that are between and among the books.

I've been listening to the audiobooks. My brain fog allows me to do this most of the time, and the reader has the most soothing voice in history. But I'm having serious difficulty remembering the order they go in so I keep finding myself listening to the wrong one and not realising for a chapter or two and then having to go back.

Brain fog is hard work.

Edit: Rob has added series numbers to the titles in the database. I'm now going to make him do that to ALL the audiobooks. Yay.

This year I'm making parcels of sweets for 100 kids. I think only half of them will be vegetarian/halal but last year's colour coding worked really well. And every year there's vegetarian or celiac or other dietary requirements kids who are DELIGHTED when they realise they can eat everything in the parcel.

I'm currently having serious trouble getting an IUD again and stumbled across this.

Way back in 2007 I got ill and I haven't been fully well since. And I was too ill to take in comments at the time. But.

The garden and weather after combining to make things spring-like and lovely. The apple tree is covered in blossom, the strawberries are starting, the roses are budding.

Well, that's that. The thing that made me create this in 2009 or so has happened. And here we are.
