It's a beautiful day
Nov. 5th, 2009 11:57 amThe children don't want to get dressed and go out but it has been a lovely day. Emer was up in the night coughing so she slept late; while she was asleep Linnea and I snuggled up together under a blanket on the sofa (!) and read more Peter and Jane; she has decided to go back and do them in order (for today) and so we did 1b from where we stopped yesterday and then she did some writing from 1c. I had to point out that her writing exercise book has 48 pages for practising in so it doesn't matter if a bit of it isn't perfect to begin with. She likes the extra lines to show how high things should be.
Emer woke remarkably cheerful - first time in days - and joined us under our blanket, so I read them Pumpkin Soup (we must get more Pumpkin Soup books, Linnea says there are three) and then Emer and I had breakfast - Linnea had sorted hers out earlier.
Emer and I started making bread and then both children wanted to help put the washing on. When I asked who wanted to feed the cats Emer raised her hand - where did she get that? Television? - and she has now decided that the cats don't like spills.
I've been putting laundry away and looking at wardrobes online. There was a special offer on the Argos website yesterday afternoon which was gone by evening, but we might buy Argos 881/1291 for the children. It would leave space for small set of boxes for jumpers, spare coats, etc beside it. And if we assemble it with lots of wood glue it ought to be fine.
The jack o' lantern is sagging; we should chop it up for compost. And fish the pumpkin flesh out of the fridge and make soup.
